LINUX LED BADGE SETUP

Fix USB access to an LED badge on Linux.

A compatible CH546 / 0416:5020 badge can be programmed in Chrome or Chromium on Linux once the logged-in user has permission to access its HID device.

Install the udev rule

sudo groupadd -f plugdev
sudo usermod -aG plugdev "$USER"
sudo tee /etc/udev/rules.d/70-led-badge.rules >/dev/null <<'EOF'
KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0416", ATTRS{idProduct}=="5020", MODE="0660", GROUP="plugdev", TAG+="uaccess"
EOF
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
sudo udevadm trigger

Unplug and reconnect the badge. Then log out and back in once so the new group membership applies.

Program the badge

Use a current Chrome or Chromium browser, connect the badge with a data-capable USB cable, and choose Connect via USB in the main editor.
